The Roosevelt County Commission met Tuesday and commissioners:

• Approved an agreement to house Roosevelt County inmates in for Lea County. Under the agreement, Roosevelt County could send adults for $100 a day and female juveniles for $125 a day. County Manager Charlene Hardin said the county has an agreement to house inmates in Tucumcari as well, but enters into these agreements only in case they’re needed.

• Approved a summary subdivision at the New Mexico Christian Children’s Home.

• Approved an amendment to a Community Development Block Grant agreement extending the length of the agreement from June to December. Hardin said she received the agreement four months late.

• Approved sale or trade of an asphalt zipper to get a water truck for the road department. Road department Supervisor Ricky Lovato said overhead on the asphalt zipper, which tears up asphalt, was overwhelming, and his crews could be more efficient with a road grader and a grid, which crushes asphalt.

• Approved $68,790 in claims to the indigent health care fund.

• Heard Sheriff Darren Hooker say his office was 95 percent done with its move to the National Guard Armory. He said the office would shut down Friday to move phone lines, Internet service and other essentials, then reopen Monday.

• Heard Roosevelt County Community Development Corporation Executive Director Greg Fisher say construction on Prairie Walk Subdivision, a development of affordable town homes in northwest Portales, should begin within weeks, and he is in discussion with developers regarding the Portales Inn.
