Cannon Chapel welcomes author, military spouse

The Cannon Community Chapel welcomed author and speaker Sara Horn for a weekend of encouragement for the ladies of Cannon Air Force Base May 7 through May 9.

Horn’s newest book provides advice and support for spouses tackling the daily challenges when their loved ones are deployed.

Cannon spouses greeted Horn, who is a military spouse herself, at May 7 at The Landing Zone during Military Spouse Appreciation Day and met area residents at The Master’s Parable Christian Bookstore for a book-signing event May 8.

Many stopped by to meet the author and discuss their experiences as military spouses.

The Protestant Women of the Chapel transformed the chapel’s fellowship hall into an oasis of rest with garden furniture, flowers and decadent desserts. Horn shared stories and scripture that directly related to military spouses facing loneliness, frustration and overwhelming situations.

“Bunkering down in your house is the worst thing you can do when your husband is deployed,” Horn said. “You are not alone. Take off your superwoman cape and lean on God.”

The PWOC will offer a variety of programs throughout the summer. Childcare is provided. Contact the base chapel at 784-2507 for information.
