Texico student wins anti-tobacco award

Texico High School student Jennifer Campos won second place in the “Youth Kicking Tobacco’s Butt Youth Advocate of the Year Award” according to a news release.

Twenty students were nominated. The teens are all part of the Youth Advocacy Empowerment Heroes! Coalition through the anti-tobacco groups in their schools or communities.

Campos is a member of Students Concerned About Tobacco and used her bilingual skill to education the area Spanish speaking community about the harmful effects of tobacco use, the release said.
