Prescribed burns scheduled for Melrose range

The 27th Special Operations Wing will be conduct a series of prescribed burns at Melrose Air Force Range beginning Wednesday.

These fires reduce the amount of vegetation in the targeted areas and help reduce the risk of wildfires caused by training or by natural causes such as lightning.

Additional burns will occur within a 30-day time period only occur under optimum weather conditions.
