Clovis Christian School superintendent honored

Clayton

Clovis Christian School Superintendent Ladona Clayton is the outstanding education doctoral student of the year at Oral Roberts University for the 2009-2010 year.

Patrick Otto, the chair of the graduate school of education at ORU, said the doctoral program began 10 years ago. Each year, one student is selected as the most outstanding, he said.

Clayton said she defended her dissertation Sept. 30. Otto said her dissertation, titled “An Analysis of the Effects of Sacred and Secular Moral Education on Moral Behavior in American Public Education,” holds real world significance.

“It is something that policy makers at both private and public schools should take a look at,” Otto said. “This is reaching out and can have a real impact on education in the future.”

Clayton said she was speechless when she was informed that she was chosen for the award.

“For me, from a Christian stand point, it brings honor and glory to God,” Clayton said.

Clayton said she was honored to be selected out of her class.

“For me to be recognized from that group is very humbling,” she said. “I believe it speaks to my dissertation.”
