Press Release: Public Regulation Commission hosting insurance meeting in Clovis

SANTA FE – The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission (Commission) encourages Clovis-area residents to attend a public comment hearing regarding Blue Cross and Blue Shield of New Mexico’s (BCBSNM) insurance rate increases.

The hearing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday, April 19 at Clovis City Hall, 321 N. Connelly, Clovis.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting and offer written or oral comments on BCBSNM’s rate increases, which were slated to take effect April 1, 2010. At the Commission’s request, the increases – which average 24.6 percent – were put on hold pending an April 26 formal administrative hearing in the PRC’s 4th Floor Hearing Room, 1120 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe.

Written public comments are still being accepted and should be sent to NMPRC, Re: BCBSNM Rate Increases, 1120 Paseo de Peralta, Santa Fe, NM 87504. Deadline for written comments is Monday, April 26.

Monday’s public comment hearing coincides with another April 19 NMPRC hearing regarding proposed amendments to existing Commission rules regarding railroads and railroad safety. That hearing begins at 1 p.m. at Clovis City Hall.
