Bovina man sentenced to seven years for 2008 robberies

Jesus Larrea, 21, of Bovina, was sentenced to seven years in prison Wednesday after pleading guilty in the robbery of two Clovis Dairy Queens in 2008.

He is the final defendant to be sentenced in the case.

Larrea and two other Bovina men were arrested Nov. 16, 2008, in Parmer County when they were stopped in a vehicle matching the description of one used in a robbery at the Dairy Queen on East First Street in Clovis, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office.

The release said the three admitted to taking part in the robbery as well as one a few days earlier at the Dairy Queen on Main Street in Clovis.

Joseph Bermea, 21, pleaded guilty in September to two counts of armed robbery, and received a partially suspended sentence of five years in prison followed by five years probation.

Christopher Garcia, 20, was sentenced to seven years in prison in January after pleading guilty to two counts of armed robbery, court records show. He must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence because the court found his charges were serious violent offenses, and he faces five years of probation after his release.
