Median project, water decision on Curry County agenda

During a meeting held at 9 a.m. Tuesday in the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Library, Curry County Commissioners are expected to:

• Consider a resolution opposing an emergency authorization by the state engineer’s office allowing New Mexico American Water to combine water rights, allowing NMAW to utilize higher capacity wells under water rights for wells with lower capacity.

The resolution would also suspend further county participation in the Clovis Water Users Group, which it states made recommendations to the state engineer that were not considered.

• Consider a resolution opposing state environmental regulations on the dairy industry.

• Consider entering into a collaborative median enhancement project with the city of Clovis that would require a $12,500 contribution by each, making up 25 percent of a $100,000 grant. The city agreed to take part in the project during its March 25 commission meeting.
