Ticket feature: Swing Fever bringing big band era to Clovis

San Francisco’s Swing Fever will be bringing the nostalgic sounds of the big band era to Clovis April 11.

The latest installment in Clovis Community College’s Cultural Arts Series will feature the band’s piano-less swing style complete with vocals and “fresh excitement,” according to the band’s web site.

Claiming the most experienced jazz players in the San Francisco Bay area, Swing Fever musicians have played with jazz greats such as Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, BB King and many more.

“The music is our passion. Witty and romantic tunes from the 1930s and ’40s have inspired Swing Fever since 1978, and we can’t seem to get enough,” the band said on its web site.

“We stopped keeping track of our song list after 1000 tunes. We learned from the originators of the music, which is why our performances have an authenticity that fans expect and critics appreciate.”

The show is scheduled for 4 p.m. April 11 at the Clovis Civic Center.

Tickets are $20 and $15 for seniors, military and students and can be purchased at the CCC cashier’s window, the Cannon Air Force Base ITT office or at the door the afternoon of the show.
