Students to get peek into county manager's duties

Curry County will be hosting a program called County Manager for the Day as part of National County Government Month.

Chosen students will follow County Manager Lance Pyle during a normal business day, according to a press release.

The students will also accompany a sheriff’s deputy on a call and drive county roads with the road superintendent.

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors can apply by following regular procedure for employment with Curry County, including turning in a cover letter, filling out the attached application form, interviewing and having references checked.

The county will also host a poster and coloring contest for elementary students based on this year’s theme Healthy Counties. Posters and coloring projects will be displayed in the Curry County Courthouse throughout April and will be judged by county commissioners and elected officials.
