Flood plan revisions to be reviewed at meeting

The city will review flood plan revisions today at a public works committee meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. at Clovis City Hall.

“We’re done with our study,” City Engineer Justin Howalt said. “We’re at a point where we’re going to be submitting it to FEMA for our review.”

The city hired Camp Dresser and McKee last year to revise the map presented by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. City officials contend the map, which helps determine rates for flood insurance, did not factor in drainage improvements the city has made the last 10 years.

Howalt said FEMA has 30 days to acknowledge receipt of the study, but no timetable to take action.
