A Curry County detention officer faces felony charges in the second arrest stemming from an alleged plot to sneak drugs into the jail.
Stephen Caron, 19, of Clovis, was arrested Monday and charged with conspiracy to bring contraband into a jail.
He was released on $5,000 bond, jail officials said.
Thursday, Jessica Barton, 23, was arrested after narcotics agents found a package of marijuana, tobacco and rolling papers at her Clovis home they said she intended to smuggle into the jail.
Undersheriff Wesley Waller said during a subsequent investigation it was discovered Caron had agreed to sneak the package into the jail in exchange for $200.
Efforts to reach Caron for comment were not successful.
Waller said Caron’s employment has been terminated.
Waller said the intended recipient of the package, 25-year-old inmate John Estrada, has also been charged with conspiracy to bring contraband into a jail and criminal solicitation.
Waller declined to reveal how the package was to be smuggled into the jail.
