Background: I come from Vietnam and became an American citizen. I went to college in California and learned how to do nails. After that, I went to Dallas and started this job. Two years ago, I went to Clovis and went into this business. Because of the arrangement of my company, I transferred to Portales.

What’s a typical day like for you on the job? We work from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Before we open, we get everything ready for our customers. Generally, I do nails and pedicures for customers the whole day. Meantime, I also answer customers’ questions about nails.

Why did you choose this job? My family is doing nail things as well, so when I wanted to find a job, they introduced me to this thing and helped me to start.

What do you most enjoy about this job? I enjoy getting to know my customers when I am at work. I like to talk to them and have fun talking to them. My customers make me like this job so much.

What type of training does this job need? To start this job, I went to beauty college to complete hours that are required by the state. And then I took an examination to get licensed. When I was in college, I learned how to sanitize things and proper ways to do nails. I also have to know different chemicals regarding this job.
