Texico woman injured in rollover

A 48-year-old Texico woman was airlifted to a Lubbock hospital Tuesday morning after a crash north of Texico.

Maria Soto De Chavez was traveling north on N.M. 108 in the area of Curry Road 17 when slid on the ice covered road, lost control and entered the soft shoulder of the road, according to Undersheriff Wesley Waller.

The van rolled, coming to rest on its roof, he said, trapping her in the vehicle.

Waller said responders had to extricate her from the vehicle.

Two boys in the vehicle, a 14-year-old male and a 1-year-old were not injured, he said.

Waller said Soto De Chavez’ medical condition was not known Tuesday afternoon.
