Last outing: Both teams lost on Wednesday, the Greyhounds to Tarleton State 73-48 and the Mustangs at West Texas A&M 68-58.

Notes: Midwestern State is ranked No. 6 this week in NCAA Division II, and had moved from third to first in the South Central Region rankings before the loss at WT. … Wednesday’s setback ended a seven-game winning streak for MSU, which led 15-11 with eight minutes left in the half but was outscored 20-2 the rest of the period. “We missed some easy shots early and they took it to us on the offensive glass,” first-year coach Grant McCasland said on MSU’s Web site. “They out-fought us in the first half.” … The Mustangs are 10-0 at home. Their only other loss this season was Jan. 13 at Angelo State (84-76). … Leaders for the team are 6-2 senior G Craig Green (14.9 ppg), 5-9 junior G Chris Hagan (13.5 ppg, 105 assists) and 6-7 senior F Rashad Austin (10.2 ppg, 36 blocks). … ENMU gave the Mustangs a tough time at Portales in the earlier meeting before losing 66-59 on Jan. 23. The Mustangs lead the all-time series 18-14, including 10-6 at Wichita Falls.

Women

Notes: The Mustangs have lost eight in a row since an 80-78 win at Texas Woman’s on Jan. 9, while the Zias come in having dropped 10 of their last 11 — broken up by a 70-56 win over MSU at Greyhound Arena on Jan. 23. The all-time series is tied 15-15, with MSU leading 9-6 at Wichita Falls. … Midwestern is 4-22 on the road since the start of the 2008-09 season, but 10-11 at home. … The Mustangs are led by 5-11 junior G/F Aqueelah Watkins (11.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and 5-10 junior F Nolisha Markham (11.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg). … ENMU sophomore G Lace Clark is the sister of MSU men’s sophomore G Melvin Clark. They are from Keene, Texas.
