2-7 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 8 a.m. Jan. 26 an officer responded to a report of a public affray at a business in the 4700 block of Mabry Drive.

A manager told the officer he had fired an employee and when he told the man to leave, he began arguing with him and refused to leave.

He said the man took a swing at him and tore his shirt so he grabbed him and held him to the ground.

When he let the man up, he said he ran out the door.

The officer obtained a warrant for battery and criminal trespass.

Around 4 p.m. Jan. 26 an officer responded to an undisclosed residence on Colonial Parkway for a report of battery.

The officer discovered an 80-year-old man’s wife had stabbed him in the arm with a pen because she believed he was an intruder keeping her from leaving her home.

The officer noted familiarity with the couple and a history of calls because the wife has conditions that cause her to sometimes be aggressive towards her husband.

Adult protective services were called and a case worker said she would begin assisting the family in caring for the woman.

The officer noted the report was for documentation only and no charges would be filed.

About 3 a.m. Jan. 27 an officer responded to the emergency room of the hospital in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard for a report of battery on a health care worker.

A nurse said a woman had come in claiming to have a medical condition and when several tests showed she did not have the condition, she went limp and laid on the floor.

As health care workers lifted her from the floor, the nurse said the woman spit on her and then when she held smelling salts under her nose, she said the woman tried to bite her.

The officer noted the woman was sitting in a wheel chair acting stiff and unresponsive and also noted that as he and another officer pushed her wheel chair towards his patrol unit, she continued to act unresponsive but he saw her smile several times.

When officers placed her in the patrol car, she immediately got out and got back in the wheel chair.

The woman was arrested and taken to the jail.

About 8 p.m. Jan. 27 an officer responded to a residence in the 1300 block of Seventh Street for a report of a shooting.

A man said he had met a guy at a convenience store and invited him over for a beer. When the man wanted to bring all of his friends with him, the man said he told him no and the other man became irate.

He said the man started sending him threatening text messages, telling him he was going to get hurt and did he really want to get shot over the situation.

The man said other man then drove to his house and fired two shots.

When he heard the shots, he said he gathered three children at the home and they all hid.

The officer documented pellets fired from a shotgun on and near the door and photographed the text messages the man received on his phone.
