Judge may make Isler decision next week

As of Friday there was no decision by a federal judge contemplating the status of Clovis High School’s varsity boy’s basketball coach J.D. Isler.

At a hearing Wednesday in Santa Fe, U.S. District Judge Martha Vazquez said she might render a decision as early as Friday on Isler’s temporary restraining order.

Isler is accused of recruiting players.

He was suspended by the New Mexico Activities Association in December and told he would be fired as coach by the Clovis school board.

A restraining order issued Dec. 18 allowed Isler to resume coaching until a court decision on his termination could be made.
