Portales house fire put out

Portales firefighters extinguished a burning garage on Taos Court in the U.S. Air Force 801 housing area Friday night. Battalion Chief Lance Hill said the occupants of the house were home but able to escape and no one was injured. About 11 p.m., investigators were still trying to determine the cause of the fire, he said. The military was providing alternative housing for the displaced occupants, Hill said.
