KINGSVILLE, Texas — Senior guard Dyana Bullinger scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds Saturday and Texas A&M-Kingsville handed Eastern New Mexico University a 77-61 loss in Lone Star Conference South Division women’s basketball.

Bullinger went 13-of-14 from the foul line for the Javelinas (13-4, 1-1 South), who improved to 8-0 at home this season. Senior guards Felicia Soza and Ursula Hill added 16 and 10 points, respectively.

The Zias (5-12, 0-2) got a double-double from junior forward Til-Lois Fifer with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while junior forward Cat Clay also scored 13 points. Fifer also had three of ENMU’s five blocked shots.

ENMU used a 9-0 run to erase a 9-4 deficit, then led 18-13 with 11:43 left in the half on a 3-point basket by sophomore guard Alex Ortiz.

The Javelinas then went on a 13-3 run to take the lead for good. The only ENMU points in that run came on a Clay 3-pointer.

The Zias were still within 29-25 with 3:44 left in the half after two free throws by Fifer, but the Javs opened a 40-31 margin at halftime.

Kingsville began the second half with a 9-0 run highlighted by Ursula Hill’s 3-pointer before ENMU began clawing its way back. The Zias got within seven twice, the latter at 59-52 on a basket by Fifer with 6:41 to go, and they were still within 65-57 after a basket by junior guard Tori Northcutt with four minutes left.

Sosa’s 3-pointer on the next trip put the margin back into double figures, and the Zias managed only two more baskets the rest of the way.

The Zias shot just 33 percent from the field for the game (20-of-60) and committed 27 turnovers to 18 for Kingsville.
