A 19-year-old accused of killing his family’s cat with a group of other teens has reached a plea agreement and been released from jail.
Jonathan Hall pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and was released from jail Dec. 22. He remains on an ankle bracelet monitor, according to court records.
Hall, a senior at Clovis High School at the time of the shooting, accepted a sentence of 18 months.
Police had classified Hall as the ringleader in the killing of his guardian’s cat last year.
Police said in January 2009, Hall and at least three other teens took a cat from Hall’s home to Ned Houk Park, hung it from a tree by its neck and shot it multiple times, finally shooting it in the head because it cried too much.
The court ordered Hall return to live at the home of his guardian, records show.
