Year in review: Portales proves its resiliency

The year 2009 may well be remembered as one of change for Portales and Roosevelt County.

Portales’ only movie theater closed, and the city got a new manager.

Also, area residents weathered a slew of spring fires and its share of H1N1 flu cases, plus low milk prices slammed the local dairy industry.

Portales celebrated its 100th anniversary and Eastern New Mexico University marked 75 years of education.
