Press Release: Stabbing at Stripes

On Monday, December 7, 2009 at approximately 5:30 PM Officers of the Clovis Police Department were dispatched to the parking lot of the Stripes Convenience Store at the corner of South Prince Street and Brady Avenue in Clovis for a call of a stabbing victim at that location in the parking lot.

Upon Officers arrival they found the 22-year-old victim identified as Jacob Thurman of Clovis suffering from a stab wound to the lower abdomen.

Two eyewitnesses that had been getting gas had earlier broken up a physical fight between the victim Jacob Thurman and two other men in the parking lot.

They advised that the stabbing had taken place after one of the earlier fight suspects identified as 19-year-old Charles Jordan Jr. of Clovis returned to the parking lot after the original fight and pushed through the two witnesses and stabbed the victim in the stomach and then ran back to a silver four door car with Texas plates and left the area, driving east bound on Brady Avenue.

A radio broadcast was put out for the suspect and vehicle that was located a few minutes later by a Clovis Fire Department Captain that had heard the police dispatch radio broadcast, who led the responding officers to the suspect vehicle.

The suspect Charles Jordan Jr. attempted to evade Clovis Police in a short vehicle pursuit in the area of the 1200 block of Walnut Street, at which time suspect Charles Jordan Jr. jumped out of the car and attempted to run away from Officers with a knife in his hand.

Charles Jordan Jr. was subsequently apprehended by Clovis Police Officers a couple of yards down from the suspect car. 18-year-old Abrey Fallis of Clovis also ran from the vehicle and was apprehended as well.

Abrey Fallis was identified as one of the suspects involved in the earlier physical fight with victim Jacob Thurman.
