Man arrested for stabbing brother


A Roosevelt County man has been arrested and charged with stabbing his brother in the stomach during an argument over money.

Douglas Wood, 52, is charged with aggravated battery on a household member with a deadly weapon, a third-degree felony, according to a news release from the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office.

About 7 p.m. Saturday, according to the release, deputies responded to the N.M. 236 residence Douglas Wood shared with his brother, 48-year-old Jeffery Wood. They found Jeffery Wood with one stab wound.

According to the release, the investigation indicated that the brothers began arguing, and Douglas Wood threatened Jeffery Wood with a knife.

Jeffery Wood was taken to Roosevelt General Hospital and then flown to Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, according to the release. He was in stable condition Monday night.

Douglas Wood was arrested at the scene without incident, according to the release.

He is being held at Roosevelt County Detention Center without bond.
