'Up-cycling' denim featured on show

Pat Baird is a registered dietitian and author, and she will talk about probiotics, and explain what they are and the role they play in health and nutrition. She represents Dannon, and lives in Greenwich, Conn.

Don’t throw away those old ties or sweaters or jewelry! Barbara Crawford is going to demonstrate what she calls “up-cycling.” Crawford’s company is Crawford Designs in Gladstone, Mo.

Information on making skirts and watercolor pleats will be the featured topics on “Creative Living” at noon Tuesday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Sewing expert Sue Hausmann will demonstrate making fast, faster and fastest skirts. She is vice president of education for Viking Sewing Machine Co. in Westlake, Ohio.

Rebecca Harger of REBAH Publishing in Noblesville, Ind., will show how to cut, mark, pleat and join panels of fabric using the Pleated Rail Fence method. The results form watercolor pleats, which she has added to some jackets and quilts she’ll show.
