Police: Five people may have been involved in fight

The Portales Police Department is presenting information to the district attorney office from statements given by witnesses to Monday’s homicide, according to Deputy Police Chief Lonnie Berry.

No arrests have been made, but Berry said there are suspects in mind in the death of 25-year-old Marco Bonilla.

“It is kind of hard to tell right now if it is drug-related,” Berry said. “We want the district attorney to look at everything. They will decide the charges and where we go from here.”

All of the victims have been treated and released from the hospital, Berry said.

“It is the result of a large fight since there were so many parties involved,” Berry said, “with different people involved in a variety of ways.”

Berry said there may have been five people involved in the fight — the victim, three or four other people — and two other witnesses.
