Editor shares thanks for family

I am thankful for three things this holiday season:

• Family

• Friends.

• Football.

Actually, I am thankful for many things this year. I have had many life-changing events and most have worked out in my favor.

I am thankful for my wife. Stephanie and I got married on Oct. 24 and there is no one I would rather spend the rest of my life with. She truly is my best friend.

I am thankful for my mom. She has always been an important person in my life. She has been there for me through the good times and the bad times.

I am thankful for my brothers, Erik and Zack. The co-best men of my wedding are important to me. No matter how crazy they are, I would not give them up for anything.

I am thankful for my dad. Through all and all I give him credit for trying to make things good between all of us.

I am thankful for my grandparents and aunts and uncles. They all came to Colorado to be part of my wedding and it was great to see all of them for the first time in a long time.

I am thankful for my friends back in Colorado. All of you guys did a lot for me this year and have supported me in moving to Tucumcari. You guys are my boys.

I am thankful for my job as managing editor of the Quay County Sun. I never thought I would be in this position and I am glad that I am.

I am thankful for my former co-workers at the Rocky Mountain News. The first two months of this year were hectic and hard for all of us but I made good friends and we all have gotten through the closing of that newspaper.

I am thankful for being accepted in the town of Tucumcari. Everybody has been nice and welcomed me with open arms.

I am thankful for having love in my life. It is one of the best feelings in the world, whether it is being loved or loving someone else.

I am thankful for having the gift of being able to write. If I did not have this I would not be doing my job as a career. I enjoy writing too much to ever give it up.

I am thankful the newspaper business can still survive where people want it to survive. Newspapers should still be a part of life. No matter how much people love the Internet, because I know I sure do, people should still be able to read the newspaper.

I am thankful for my love of sports. They are something that I love being involved in, covering for the paper and enjoy watching on television.

I am thankful that I finally graduated from college. What a long haul that was, but it feels good now that I am finished with all of it.

I am thankful for having my health. I feel good, strong and healthy. All very important things to me.

So on Thursday, try and give thanks for the things you have and love. I know I will.
