Teen faces careless driving charges

Two teen girls injured after crashing into a house Tuesday night had taken the driver’s mom’s vehicle out without permission.

The 14-year-old driver is facing charges of careless driving and driving without a license, according to a press release from Clovis police.

Just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police and emergency responders were dispatched to 1603 S. Main Street for a report of a vehicle that had rolled and crashed into a residence.

Officers found the two girls injured in a Chevrolet Tahoe that had rolled on the porch of the home, the release said.

The passenger was transported to a Lubbock hospital due to a severe compound fracture to her arm. She was in stable condition, according to the release, and the driver was treated at Plains Regional Medical Center and released.

A preliminary investigation by the police department’s crash team showed the vehicle was northbound on South Main Street and lost control, sliding off the roadway and rolling into the porch of the residence, the release said.
