Portales police make marijuana bust

Freedom New Mexico

A Portales man and Lovington woman face felony charges after police say they caught the pair Wednesday with 58 pounds of marijuana.

David Howl, 42, and Melissa Flowers, 39, are charged with distribution of marijuana, according to Portales Deputy Chief Lonnie Berry.

Bond was set at $50,000 each. Both were jailed in Roosevelt County.

The arrests follow a joint investigation by Portales Police officers, Roosevelt County Sheriff’s deputies and agents from Region V Drug Task Force.

Berry said acting on a tip, a search warrant was obtained and officers found the marijuana in a vehicle being used by the couple.
