Police department requests additional motorcycles

The Clovis Police Department will be asking the city commission Thursday for permission to lease two Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

The meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. at the North Annex of the Clovis-Carver Library.

The motorcycles would be rented at $5,400 for a period of six months with nearly $12,000 needed for additional equipment such as emergency lights and radios, according to the meeting agenda.

Chief Steve Sanders said by leasing the motorcycles under a two-year agreement, the department essentially gets two for the price of one.

Commissioners are also expected to:

• Consider a proposal for engineering services for the Hull Street overpass and a proposal for environmental construction monitoring during the project.

• Consider a request for approval of Lodgers Tax funds.

• Hear a monthly report on the city’s investments.
