Letters to the Editor: Sense of pride missing in Clovis

Sense of pride missing in Clovis

I’m 66 years old and I love to walk. As I walk, I enjoy looking at scenery, what people have planted in their yards, and the awesomeness of God’s beautiful creations.

I recently spent one hour, over a quarter mile, filling four big 30-gallon bags with plastic water bottles, Coke cans, beer bottles and cans, fast-food wrappers, cigarette packs and diapers.

My heart breaks when I see the uncaring thinking that goes behind the thoughtless action of littering.

I live on South Prince Street. My neighbors and I keep our yards looking nice. We spend a lot of our time keeping it that way as we are constantly picking up trash that non-caring people are throwing out their windows.

We have plenty of dumpsters in our neighborhood. People should use them.

I’m proud of our new “Welcome to Clovis” sign on South Prince. But along with our welcome sign we need our scenery to be welcoming also.

I like the updates I see around town where people are showing they take pride in how Clovis looks. Just think if we all did our part of maintaining our town — and it’s a constant activity — how nice our town and countryside would look.
