City letting bids for Hull Street bridge project

The City of Clovis will begin advertising for bids for the construction of the Hull Street Bridge project on Sunday, October 4th, 2009.

Hull Street Bridge was closed in late July 2008 due to structural safety issues. Since that time the City of Clovis has worked diligently to secure funding to design a new bridge and replace the structure at the existing site.

“I am pleased to see the project moving along well” advised City Manager Joe Thomas Friday. “The design for the new bridge has been completed and we hope to present the award of the bid for the construction of the new bridge to the Commission at the November 5th, 2009 meeting with construction starting before year’s end.

“The Hull Street Bridge has been our number one legislative priority for funding” advised Mayor Brumfield Friday. “I would like to thank Governor Richardson for meeting with us on several occasions regarding funding the new overpass, and our federal, state and local delegations for taking such a great interest in this project and providing us with funding to get this project completed.”
