Two charged in drug bust

(Roosevelt County, NM) – On Sunday September 20, 2009, Deputies with the Roosevelt County Sheriff’s Office, Officers with the Portales Police Department, and members of the Region 5 Drug Task Force conducted a Narcotics search warrant in the 1000 block of West University.

During execution of the search warrant three subjects were detained at the residence. Two were later arrested for Narcotics charges.

Robert Hawkins Jr, DOB: 05-31-70, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and a Probation Violation.

Hawkins is being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center with no bond due to the Probation Violation.

Virginia Jones, DOB: 08-11-80, was arrested for Trafficking Methamphetamine, Distribution of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Jones is being held at the Roosevelt County Detention Center on a $100,000.00 cash only bond.

A third female admitted to being at the residence to purchase marijuana but was not able to do so due to the execution of the search warrant and was released from the scene.
