9/23 Police blotter

Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:

About 1 a.m. Sept. 5, an officer responded to the police department in the 300 block of Connely Street for a report of an unconscious subject.

A woman said she had found a teen boy unconscious in the area of North and Wallace streets and had taken him to the emergency room.

The officer went to the hospital and talked with the teenager, who said he had been at a church youth program and was waiting for a ride when a car pulled up and the occupant threatened him with a knife and told him to get in.

He said two people in the car put a mask around his face, made him smoke a white powder, and then dropped him off in the area where he was found.

The boy’s parents arrived and said they did not believe his story and did not want to press charges.

Around 2 p.m. Sept. 5, an officer responded to the police department in the 300 block of Connely Street to take a missing person report.

A woman said she had not seen her teen son in three days.

Another officer recalled seeing the youth and knew where he was staying, so officers went to the residence and escorted him outside.

The youth began struggling with the officer and pulled away. The officer tried to tackle the youth and fell, and the boy got up and punched the officer in the head. The officer kicked the teenager off of him and got to his feet.

The youth ran, and the officer followed until the youth turned and faced him.

The officer shot the teen with an electronic stun gun, and the boy attempted to run again, falling in the street.

An ambulance was called to evaluate the youth, and he was transported to the juvenile detention center for obstructing an officer and battery on an officer.

About 4 p.m. Sept. 5, an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Sandy Lane for a report of a cat bite.

A woman said she walked into a bathroom at the residence, and the cat attacked her, scratching and biting her arms and legs.

The cat’s owner said they did not want the cat any longer, and it was turned over to animal control and taken to the shelter.

Around midnight Sept. 7, an officer responded to a business in the 300 block of Prince Street for a report of criminal damage.

A clerk said a man she knows came into the store acting strangely. She said he asked for tamales, and when she told him the price, he became upset. She said he went down one of the isles and picked up a package of muffins and began to crush them. Then he grabbed the tamales and broke them apart and kicked the front door as he was leaving, damaging the frame, she said.

The officer noted intent to seek a warrant for criminal damage.
