Day trip: Theater performance honors 9/11 victims

The Hub Theater Group is giving a performance of “The Guys.”

What’s it about? The Sept. 11, 2001, drama depicts a New York City fire captain who lost eight men on the day of the terrorist attacks and must write eulogies for them even though their bodies have not been recovered.

When is it happening? The play begins at 8 p.m. Sept. 4, 5, 11 and 12.

Where can I see it? Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts Firehouse Theater at 511 Ave. K, Lubbock, Texas. It is 107 miles or a two-hour drive from Cannon Air Force Base.

What’s special about this production: The theater group is dedicating this performance to the men and women of the Lubbock Fire and Police Departments and other local first responders. A portion of the ticket sales will go to the Lubbock Regional Public Safety Memorial.
