Col. Scott Corcoran assumed command of the 27th Special Operations Medical Group from Col. Kenneth Hall in a ceremony on July 22.

“We will persevere as defenders of freedom and ambassadors of good will,” said Hall, prior to rendering his final salute to the ‘Mighty Medics.’ Hall’s next duty assignment is at Air War College, Maxwell AFB, Ala.

“I want to extend a sincere thanks to Colonel Hall for his exceptional leadership in turning over a unit performing at such a sustained level of excellence,” said Corcoran.

Corcoran assumed command of the medical group and arrived here from his previous duty station as a student at Air War College. He stated that he will build on the successes that Colonel Hall and the personnel of the 27 SOMDG have accomplished.

“Colonel Corcoran, your Air Commandos stand ready in front of you,” said Col. Stephen Clark, 27th Special Operations Wing commander. “Lead them well and they will exceed your expectations.”

“I am absolutely confident that, as a team working together, we will continue to meet the inherent challenges and grow in providing exceptional medical care to those we have the privilege of serving,” said Corcoran.

A few of Corcoran’s past assignments include Chief of Pharmacy Services; Executive Officer to the Command Surgeon, U.S. Air Force in Europe; and TRICARE Regional Director, Clinical Division and Clinical Operations.

Corcoran received his commission in the Air Force in 1988 as a Biomedical Sciences Corps officer after receiving a Bachelor of Science, Pharmacy, from South Dakota State University in 1982.
