The Curry County Fairgrounds will host races, robot battles and plenty of noise during this weekend’s Kicker Monster Truck Show.
The event is scheduled Friday and Saturday with 7:30 p.m. shows both nights.
The event is being promoted by Cycle City Promotions of Tulsa, Okla.
“We do the Arenacross event annually during the fair, and we’ve done monster truck shows in other venues,” said Tod Hammock, president of Cycle City Promotions. “We enjoyed coming to Clovis, and we feel it would be a successful event judging from our experiences with Arenacross.”
Events for each night include wheelie competitions and all-terrain vehicle races with all age ranges of competitors and freestyle.
“They get to do whatever they want,” Hammock said, “their best tricks, their best maneuvers,” and will be awarded top places based on crowd noise.
There will also be robot battles each evening, with the 25-foot-robots Galactron and Reptar featured.
The gates open at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Hammock said. Saturday features a pit party, where all of the vehicles will be on display and drivers will be available for autographs. The party includes a separate $5 entrance fee.
