Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The El Llano Grande District of the Boy Scouts of America is hosting a Ten Commandments Hike beginning 8 a.m. Saturday.
Co-sponsor of the hike, John Schonberger, said they are expecting about 50 Cub Scouts for the hike.
The hike is intended to introduce participants to a variety of faiths and houses of worship, Schonberger said.
The scouts will trek across town, making 20 minute stops at different churches.
At each stop, a member of the clergy will discuss a specific Commandment, describe the basic theological tenets of their religion and point out architectural and historical aspects of their houses of worship.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
