A 24-year-old Clovis man faces multiple charges after a high-speed motor vehicle chase ended when he slammed into a parked vehicle.
Among the charges Carlos Lopez faces is a second offense of aggravated DWI, leaving the scene of an accident involving great bodily harm and resisting and evading or obstructing an officer, Curry County Undersheriff Wesley Waller said Monday.
Lopez is being held without bond due to a probation violation.
Waller said a deputy tried to stop Lopez about 1 a.m. Sunday when the suspect ran a stoplight at Seventh and Prince streets.
At the intersection of Sixth and Mitchell streets, the vehicle went airborne and crashed into the bumper of a parked car, Waller said.
Lopez was captured nearby by Clovis police officers after he fled. A gun was found in his pants, Waller said.
A 24-year-old passenger was captured at the scene, Waller said, and transported to Plains Regional Medical Center, where he was treated for his injuries.
