An 18-year-old Clovis woman and five members of an extended family died Friday in a head-on collision west of Roswell.

Elaina Hita was killed on U.S. 70 when the vehicle she was driving hit a van carrying five adults and two children, according to State Police spokesman Peter Olson.

Hita’s passenger, 22-year-old Luis Navarro of Clovis, was in stable condition at a Lubbock hospital, Olson said.

The extended family included a grandmother, parents and two children. They are 59-year-old Julia Lawson, 31-year-old Troy Lawson, his 28-year-old wife, Kristy, and their two children, 9-year-old Cameron and 7-year-old Kerabeth.

The grandfather, 62-year-old Terry Lawson, is in critical condition at a Lubbock Hospital.

Their van was registered to an address in Huntsville, Texas.
