A Tucumcari man who was hit by a train two weeks ago says he “didn’t see the darn train,” and that he’s a very lucky man.
“The doctors and everybody say I am very, very lucky,” said Isaac Pacheco, Jr., 46.
Pacheco who is at Northwest Hospital in Amarillo was interviewed by phone on Friday.
Following his accident at the tracks crossing north Rock Island on the afternoon of Dec. 12, Pacheco was airlifted to Amarillo for treatment.
“I was in intensive care for a couple days,” said Pacheco, who is now in a regular hospital room.
The accident is “like a dream,” Pacheco said.
“I was walking back home and cut across the tracks. I didn’t see the darn train.
