Cummins donates to local food bank

Cummins Natural Gas Engines in Clovis recently donated $37,000 to local organizations, including the Food Bank of Eastern New Mexico’s back pack program.

The food bank donates food to needy elementary students through the back pack program, according to the New Mexico Association of Food Banks Web site.

Daniel Platt, the company’s community involvement director, said the company donated $35,000 from the Cummins foundation to the food bank.

He said the company also donated $1,000 each to the Clovis-Carver Library Public and the Oasis youth Advocacy Center.

He said the plant wants to raise awareness for these programs.

“These are good programs and they need further help or support from the community,” he said.
