Opposing views don’t define racism

It’s sad when you are called a racist because you didn’t support Barack Obama. It’s even worse when children are called racist by schoolmates because they have opposing views.

We can teach our children what to say when they are called a racist. A proper response is, “No, I’m pro-life and Mr. Obama is pro-choice.” Or, “No, I’m for a strong national security, and Mr. Obama has promised to cut defense spending.”

But it would be even better if parents taught their kids not to call someone a racist just because they have views that differ with the first black president.
