Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
The Clovis/Curry Chamber of Commerce is making a fundraising push for its annual Smoke on the Water Fourth of July fireworks display.
Funds received so far for this year’s show total $12,000, according to a release from the Clovis-Curry County Chamber of Commerce. That is less than half of the $25,000 needed for the annual fireworks show at Greene Acres Park, according to the release.
Ernie Kos, executive director of the chamber, said financial and in-kind donations (refreshments for police and volunteers working that day) will be accepted regardless of the amount.
“Any amount of money, large or small will help, even $1,” Kos said. “If everybody gave $1, we’d be way over.”
If the $25,000 mark isn’t reached, Kos said, donations will be accepted beyond July 4.
“The history is last year is the only year in recent history we had all the money collected by the Fourth,” Kos said. “Any other year we were collecting money after the event.”
RooneyMoon Broadcasting presents the show in conjunction with the chamber.
