Girls softball coaches to meet

There will be a coaches meeting for Portales girls softball leagues at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Portales Recreation Center, 18th Street and Avenue I.

All previous coaches and those interested in coaching are invited.

Girls fastpitch signups and tryouts are Saturday at the Portales Softball Complex with the following schedule:

8-under — 10 a.m.

11-under — 11:30 a.m.

14-under — 1 p.m.

Preschool clinics scheduled

Regional Educational Center No. 6 at Eastern New Mexico University will hold free preschool screening clinics will be held in area schools for children birth to age 5. Along with the screenings schools will also be offering the Child Find program to provide a record of a child if they are lost.

Commodity distribution cancelled

The monthly distribution of commodities at the Memorial Building in Portales, scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled, according to a press release.

Educational retirees to meet

The Roosevelt County Association of Educational Retirees will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday in the cafeteria conference room at Roosevelt General Hospital.

Judy Griego of the Community Services Center will be the guest speaker, according to a press release.
