Greyhounds sign four soccer recruits

The Eastern New Mexico University men’s soccer coach Carlos Elizondo has added four signees for the upcoming season.

They are midfielders Omar Heredia of San Luis, Ariz .; Luis Castafieda of Chaparral (Gadsden H.S.) and Rene Ruiz of Roswell (Goddard H.S.), and goalkeeper Ty Horak of Los Alamos. All will be freshmen except Heredia, a transfer from Arizona Western Junior College who will be a junior.

Heredia was a two-time all-region selection in junior college and an all-state selection in Arizona as a high school senior, while Ruiz earned first-team all-District 4-4A honors and Class 4A all-state honorable mention at Goddard.

Castafieda led Gadsden to consecutive District 3-5A championships, while Horak was a second-team 4A all-state honoree at Los Alamos.
