Clovis pulls away in fourth

Clovis beat Onate 89-64 Saturday in a first-round game of the Class 5A boys state playoffs at Rock Satubus Gym.

Bryce Hill and Jaye Crockett scored 22 points each as top-ranked Clovis (27-1) advanced to the state quarterfinals at The Pit in Albuquerque.

Juan Ayala led Onate with 22 points and Alex Wright added 16

Onate cut Clovis' 21-point halftime lead to 58-46 at the end of the third quarter.

Clovis faces Cibola on Wednesday in state quarterfinal game in Albuquerque.

Clovis beat the Cougars 73-70 during a regular-season contest.
