Serving Clovis, Portales and the Surrounding Communities
With an abbreviated business slate, to make room for ceremonies honoring the Ellen W. Jones chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Portales city councilors took up just two action items in Tuesday’s regular meeting.
• Councilors gave unanimous approval to a bid to erect a metal building for an new animal control shelter near the police station. The bid for was awarded to Design 360 of Clovis, which bid $127,300. City staff indicated they will have to negotiate with the awardee to meet the budget of $123,000 on the project.
• Councilors also gave approval to execution of a grant from the New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department to provide a van for Portales Senior Citizens Center. The resolution was approved contingent on minor corrections to the wording provided by the state agency.
