Deputy leaves following investigation

A Curry County Sheriff’s deputy resigned Friday, more than two weeks after he was placed on paid administrative leave pending an investigation into his conduct, according to county officials.

Undersheriff Wesley Waller said the administrative investigation had concluded when Larry Garrison voluntarily submitted his resignation.

“Deputy Garrison submitted his resignation and it was accepted by the sheriff's office and Curry County personnel,” Waller said.

He declined to comment on what the investigation had determined.

Garrison did not return a call seeking comment Friday.

Garrison was placed on leave Oct. 9 while sheriff’s office officials conducted an investigation into allegations he verbally assaulted a woman.

Clovis police filed charges of assault and disorderly conduct in municipal court Oct. 18. According to a criminal complaint, Garrison cursed and yelled at a woman he wanted to purchase a vehicle from when she told him she was not going to sell it.

If convicted of the charges, petty misdemeanors, Garrison could face up to 90 days in jail and or a $500 fine, according to court documents.

Municipal court officials said Garrison has until Friday to appear in court.
