Hound soccer slips to ninth in regional rankings

Eastern New Mexico University’s men stayed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region soccer rankings after splitting a pair of Southwest Soccer Conference matches over the weekend.

ENMU (3-2, 1-1 SSC) dropped one spot from eighth to ninth in the poll after blanking Missouri Southern 2-0 on Friday and losing to Northeastern State 3-2 on Sunday in road matches.

Sophomore midfielder Ryan McClanahan scored three goals over the weekend and has already tied the four-year-old program’s single-season record with six goals. He is ranked sixth in Division II in points per game (2.8) and 18th in goals per game (1.2), while senior midfielder Keith Vargas is tied for 13th in assists.
