Samplings of recent calls received by Clovis-area law enforcement officers, according to reports:
Around 8 a.m. Aug. 17 an officer responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard about a credit card.
A man told the officer he found his neighbor’s credit card on his doorstep. He said the woman is mentally handicapped and known to place her property on resident’s doorsteps. He said he was concerned someone might take it.
The officer placed the credit card in evidence because he was unable to reach the woman.

About 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 an officer was called to the 1000 block of Calhoun Street for an intoxicated person throwing things around the house.
Witnesses told the officer the woman drove off. The officer found the woman a couple blocks away and pulled her over. She told him she did not have a license and was crying. The officer noted she smelled of alcohol and wasn’t wearing any shoes. He administered field sobriety tests, determined she was under the influence and arrested her.

Around 1 a.m. Saturday an officer responded to a parking lot in the 300 block of North Prince Street in reference to a subject wanted on a warrant.
The officer found a man sitting in his car. A check of his license did not turn up any warrants but the officer smelled what he believed to be marijuana. The man consented to a search of his car, and the officer discovered a small baggy of marijuana.
He was issued a citation for possession.

About 2 a.m. Saturday officers responded to a domestic dispute in the 500 block of 20th Street.
A woman told the officers her husband got mad at her when she wouldn’t let him use her car and cell phone, hit her, then took their 2-year-old daughter out of bed and walked away from the house. She said her husband had returned and was in the house. Officers noted cuts and bruises on her face. The man told the officers he had taken his daughter and had only pushed his wife when she got in his way.
Officers placed the man under arrest for battery on a household member.

Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday an officer responded to a home in the 700 block of Merriwether Street for a criminal damage report.
A man told the officer he was sitting in his living room when he heard glass break and firecrackers go off. He showed the officers a large steel gear that was thrown through the window and burnt areas on his carpet where the firecrackers started a fire.
